UASB
UASB (Up-flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket) is a type of treatment of wastewater with high organic content which exploits the anaerobic fermentation in a digester.
This technology, if applied in the proper context, can offers some advantages:
The disadvantage of these systems is the residue of pollutants output is often not enough low to allow the direct discharge and a final stage for the refining is usually required .
This technology, if applied in the proper context, can offers some advantages:
- low energy costs, compared to conventional biological plants
- reduced plant, costs compared to conventional biological systems (oxygenation is not required)
- great capacity to reduce the organic content
- low sludge production, compared to a traditional system
- the output biogas gas can be reused as fuel
The disadvantage of these systems is the residue of pollutants output is often not enough low to allow the direct discharge and a final stage for the refining is usually required .
